First of all, both magazines are biased towards the east coast. By the east coast, I mean ny, new jersey, boston, conneticut, maryland, etc. Both magazines give bad reviews on up and coming artists especially from the west coast, dirty south, and what i consider the REAL midwest (detroit, chi-town, milwaukee, ohio, etc). The only reason I read them both is because they both have things to offer at times. If you want the real scoop on Hip-Hop, Murder dog is your best magazine. Murder dog covers regions in the united states where folks have their own brand of music, as well as up and coming artists. the problem is they want $35 for a subscription. Both sometimes have good reviews on fashion, mixtapes, and hood movies. But, between the 2 get XXL. If you want the unbiased real on hip hop, get Murder Dog. You will see all your real and favorite artists from e-40 to redman to z-ro to saigon. think about it

I Cant believe I m going to do this but

I am on the same side as John Kerry for once(The Reviewer on Amazon Though) this magazine is kind of stuid. Alls it serves is to trash the Source it does not offer anything good. The reviews are all biased(Just like the Source) and they only have popular albums on there. They really do not go into Underground that much at all. I Feel that the old Source All Music Guide,Amazon customers,Rap Reviews and rate your music or better.They have some good stuff like a issue I picked up on the top summer jams from 1988-2003 so it is below average.
